Qui Sommes Nous? / Who Are We?

L’idée de Clean Hugs est née courant 2016 par deux pratiquants de JJB (jiu-jitsu brésilien) : Jérémie et moi-même, Adrien. 

Jérémie est le père de deux enfants, il a longtemps été acteur, et était jusqu’à peu propriétaire d’un restaurant. Il a longtemps pratiqué la muay-thai ainsi que l’escalade.

Pour ma part j’étais moins sportif à la base, j’ai découvert le JJB il y a 5 ans et depuis je n’ai pas pu m’arréter. Je me suis mis au jogging aussi, j’ai notamment participé au dernier semi-marathon de Paris. J’ai travaillé comme responsable logistique et achat et dans le temps qu’il me reste entre le sport et le boulot je m’improvise DJ.

L’aventure de Clean Hugs démarre il y a environ un an lorsque Jérémie contracte un mauvais staphylocoque (je ne pense pas qu’il en existe de bon, mais celui là n’était vraiment pas joli à voir !) lors d’un entrainement de JJB. Cette mésaventure l’éloigne des salles d’entrainement durant presque trois mois. Trois mois, c’est long ! Surtout lorsque l’on a ce besoin vital de sport, de se dépenser.

De retour sur les tapis, plus question que cela lui arrive à nouveau, pourtant impossible de trouver une solution vraiment appropriée. Ce qui est fou car les infections de la peau sont monnaie courante chez les les sportifs et pas uniquement dans les sports dit de contact. Dés lors qu’il y a de la peau (sensibilisée par des frottement, des coups ou autre…) et de la sueur, il y un risque.

C’est à ce moment que j’entre dans l’histoire. Jérémie me contacte et me parle de son idée : créer une gamme de produit d’hygiène pour sportifs.  

Puis ce sont de longs mois de recherche : trouver les produits, les fabricants, se déplacer aux 4 coins de la France, imaginer et créer nos senteurs, tester les produits. C’est en 2017 qu’on fini par lancer nos premiers savons. 

Nous avons été tout de suite très bien reçu par la communauté sportive : club de JJB, club de boxe… Après seulement 2 mois d’existence nous avons déja participé à plusieurs évenements sportifs : gala de boxe, soirée crossfit, open-mat JJB. Nous avons l’immense chance de sponsoriser des athlètes de MMA, de JJB, de lutte, de luta-livre. 

L’aventure clean Hugs ne fait que commencer !

DÉCOUVREZ L’UNIVERS CLEAN HUGS

The idea of Clean Hugs was born in 2016 by two Brazilian jiu-jitsu (BJJ) practitioners  Jeremie and me, Adrien.

Jeremie is a husband, father of two children, and until recently was the owner of an American Style Pizza restaurant in Paris. He has practiced many sports throughout his life but most recently muay-thai boxing, rock climbing and of course, BJJ.

As for me, I was less athletic on a daily bases. I discovered  BJJ 5 years ago and since then I haven’t been able to stop. I’ve also started running and  participated in the last semi-marathon in Paris. I’ve worked as a logistics and purchasing manager and in my free time, I practice my DJing skills .

The Clean Hugs adventure started about a year ago when Jeremie contracted a bad staph infection (I don’t think there’s any good ones, but this one was a really bad one!) during a BJJ session. This misfortune took him away from training for almost three months. Three months is a long time when you have a  vital need for this sport.

Back  on the mats, he was determined  not to let this happen to him again, but he didn’t see any real solutions;  which seems crazy because skin infections are incredibly common amongst athletes and not only in so-called contact sports. If there is skin (sensitized by friction, blows etc …) and sweat, there is  risk. Which gave him his great idea, Clean Hugs.

That’s when I got involved. Jeremie told me about his idea to create a range of hygiene products for athletes.and then started the long months of research:  sourcing products, finding the manufacturers,  traveling to the 4 corners of France, imagining and creating our scents, testing and developing the products and so on. It was in 2017 that we finally launched our first soaps: Mauvais Garçon, Fière Allure and Oeil Au Beurre Noir.

We were immediately received by the sporting community: BJJ clubs, boxing clubs and various sports fanatics have come out of the woodwork to become apart of our community. After only 2 months of existence we have already participated in several sports events: boxing galas, evening crossfit tournaments and  many open-mat BJJ sessions. We have been given the tremendous opportunity to sponsor MMA, BJJ, wrestling and lucha-libre athletes.

We are off to such an incredible start and the clean Hugs adventure has only just begun!
